Last saturday I went to go see "About a Boy" with some folks. Felt pretty stupid cuz I told everyone the movie was at 10:40, but we found out upon arrival that it was actually at 10:10 and 12:40. We ended up getting tickets for the late show and to kill time we went to mel's, cuz JiTe had never been there before. Right off the bat, I could sense it wasn't going to be a great dining experience...P diddli complained that it smelled like pee. Tengboy ordered the buffalo wings and wasn't too pleased with them...someone should've told him that it's better not to order what's not on the menu at these mundane establishments.
I think JiTe stared momentarily at his meal in disbelief...he must've been thinking "I know everything is bigger in Texas, but this is insane!"
The movie was quite entertaining...I always get a kick out of goofy brits and their funny accents...oh bullocks!!
Lately, when reading other people's blogs, i've been kinda impressed by the randomness of thought and how some people can blog bout whatever they're thinking, going off on tangents and ramble off bout random ideas and observations, purely unfiltered. That's kinda tough for me to do...I tend to think bout it before I decide to write and publish it. I dunno, maybe I'm just not as open like that. it'd be kinda cool to try that though. well let's see...i'm just sitting here, watching that "Feels Good" video by Naughty by Nature and 3LW on BET. Kinda glad Naughty came out with something...it's been a while since I've heard anything from them. That Treach is still pretty diesed...kinda looks like Chris Webber...gotta mention that to ME so he can put it on his list. Can't believe Treach is hooked up with Pep from Salt N'Pepa...never thought he'd fancy the thick ones. Hmm...ok, I think I've rambled enough for now...feel like going back and erasing the last part.
Time for me to bugger off before i get myself into trouble.
Blogging is much like working out for me...it's easy to do consistently once you get into a rhythm, but once that rhythm is interrupted it requires a major effort to start again.
Just to catch up on a few things:
Watched Star Wars the other day at AMC 1000, featuring the highly acclaimed dlp projector. I must say, it was probably the most visually stimulating movie that I've ever seen, but the dialog was just so darn corny...i guess you have to take into consideration their target audience of mostly freaks n'geeks.
Smallville Season Finale: Leaves a lil somethin to be desired. No words in my limited vocabulary can describe my disappointment. I give the show credit for their overachievement in the use of feature film caliber special effects though.
Celebrity Boxing: This show really illustrates the ugliness of American society and commercialism. Why would anyone subject themselves to this degree of ridicule? I almost felt a twinge of guilt watching it, but I guess everything has a price in this society.
Darva Conger vs. bankrupt has-been former Olympic gymnist- hardly seemed a fair fight, with a clear size advantage going to conger. she can fight too. even though the older littler lady lost, i give credit for sticking in there and taking all the pops as her head kept snapping backwards after each hit.
Screech (Saved by the Bell star) vs. aging tomato can: If you like watching some poor sap who's in way over his head get pummelled, this match delivers. Screech, at 6'0 and weighing in at almost a deuce, has come along way from the skinny geekling he was on tv...totally toyed with his opponent, working the body in the first round and working his way to the head shots, knocking the other dude down twice in the next 2 rounds.
Manute Bol vs. William "The Fridge" Perry- I can't even begin to describe how disappointing Perry was...it seemed like he was winded after the first 10 seconds and could barely keep his gloves up towards the end. I can't even confirm that he landed one punch...it was more like a double fisted push. I could probably count the # of punches thrown on my hands...even the ref was threatening them that they wouldn't get paid if they didn't start boxing. The only thing remotely amusing was the bizarre visual of a 7'7" 220lb fighter facing up someone a foot and half shorter, but almost twice his size. Needless to say, manute won...at least the money went to a charitable cause.
Joanie Laurer vs. Joey Butafuco: This guy can't win...if she whoops him, he looks bad...if he whoops her, he still looks bad...must be in some serious financial trouble. china got in some good shots, but he was pretty much the agressor, and even took a few cheap shots. I dunno, it was kind of a disturbing match to watch. How can anyone possibly feel good bout defeating a woman 80 lbs lighter?
oh well, if anyone wants to witness this despicable media event, i have the tape. =)
I just watched the last smallville episode i taped for this week...dang, that must be the best episode ever, next to the nicodemus plant one of course ;)
I couldn't sleep for a while after watching it cuz i kept thinking bout it. i guess i can relate...not that i think i'm superman or anything, but it has more to do with his weaknesses.
Alright, i'm going to stop now before i get myself in trouble.
Sorry for those of you that don't watch, but you should start if you haven't. And for those of you that never heard, you better go ask somebody!
I've decided to open up my blog to exhibit of artwork by the local blog community.
Below is an exquisite selection of JY's handiwork brought to my attention by our beloved indian boy. Reminiscent of the Dada and Surrealist movements and bearing particular likeness to what Duchamp would call an "assisted ready-made", to the best of my knowledge this piece has not been titled, but it certainly appears to pay homage to a very familar character.
So today I was conveniently having lunch downtown when I figured I might as well stop by Macy's and check out the Tag Heure promo. To my surprise, there was a huge crowd of people there to see Zhang Ziyi...never seen so many young Asian males in the Macy's women's building. The line snaked through the whole store from one end to the other. The line actually moved pretty quickly due to the martinarian assembly line process- you had to put all your personal belongings in a Macy's shopping bag that was given to you, and when it was your turn to see her an assistant would hold the bag while you received an autographed Tag Heure ad before moving on out...no personal articles signed or pics allowed. An old Asian lady in front of me was so confused that she walked right on past her without receiving her signed memorabilia. I on the other hand managed to steal a brief conversation with her that lasted all of 10 glorious seconds. The first thing anyone asks me is how she looks. She's a lil shorter than I had thought (5'4") but she has this cute pouty- oh nevermind, I'll stop now.
Anyways, like I said before, it wasn't really a big deal to me, so I wasn't as disappointed as some others with this souvenir:
Just wanted to know how many of you viewers see a rather large gray expanse next to the links near the top. For those of you who see it that way, just know that I didn't design the template that way...it's actually because your browser isn't large enough to fit the width of the template, so it shifts everything below. I dunno too much bout HTML coding, but I'll play around with it and see if I can get it fixed.
I heard that Crouching Tiger hottie Zhang Ziyi is gonna be at Macy's for a signing...not really too crazy bout her anymore after her weak appearance at the Rush Hour 2 premier, but maybe I might go check it out and get her to sign my bootleg copy of Crouching Tiger.
Or maybe my Rush Hour 2 dvd.
Ahh, i'm not really an autograph person...i'd rather have a picture...better yet an autographed picture.
